Tova is a contemporary artist based in Calgary, Alberta. Her work features melodic hues within minimalist compositions.

Working primarily in abstract landscapes, her paintings explore balance between movement and stillness, openness and grounding.

Natural canvas is integral to the work, not just a surface to be covered. Texture, grain, and negative space are embraced as part of the final composition.

After an early career in marketing, she returned fully to her studio practice in 2020, founding Tova Shan Art.

Painting from her home studio in Calgary, every piece is made with close attention to detail, quality materials, and how the work will live in a space. Paintings are produced in limited quantities, with each piece standing on its own while remaining part of a cohesive, evolving body of work.
